Imagine the sovereignty God gave to you

Updated: Aug 22, 2022

I woke up to this wonderful Psalm, it brightens my day, and just meditating on it brings sheer joy to my heart. To think that God in his power extends such sovereignty to us as "man". Such awe and power with all of our frailty and obvious flaws.

Take a moment to read the psalm 8 1-9 below:

Psalm 8

1 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens.

2 You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you.

3 When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers the moon and the stars you set in place

4 what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?

5 Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor.

6 You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority

7 the flocks and the herds and all the wild animals,

8 the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims the ocean currents.

9 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!

Verse psalm 8:4 says -

...we are made a little lower than God ...

OMG! I know right. It's not heresy, it is the truth, and KNOWING this truth will make us free. (See John 8:32). It hurts God to see us die like mere men when He has made us gods. ) Psalm 82:6

Verse psalm 8:6 says -

He gave us charge of everything He made, putting all things under our authority.

Isn't it great to know that we are made not only in His image, but He gave us His glory, power, and authority too?

In the beginning, God made us just like Him and gave us dominion over all created things. (Gen 2: 27-28). Then the man fell to the deception of Satan and lost the glory and the authority. But the good news is, Jesus Christ came and gave Himself as the redemption for our sins, and through Him (and only through Him) we now have the glory and the authority spoken about in Psalm 8: 5-6.

It is encouraging to know that when the challenges and ugly circumstances begin to stare us in the face, all we need to do is begin to exercise our dominion over them by speaking forth His words given to us through His promises, in the bible.

Our dominion is in knowing who we are in Christ Jesus, in God.

For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. Col 3:3 (NLT)

Study the word of God, renew your mind in His word, and the more you know Him, the more you will be like Him in all things.

Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. Col 3:10 (NLT)

Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Rom 12:2a (NLT)

It all starts and ends with studying God's word to know who He is and who He says you are.

Let me leave this with you, knowing this truth will give you the mindset David had when he challenged Goliath and with this truth, you will challenge and overcome your circumstances in Jesus' name, amen.
